This is gonna be a short post but also a rant on something that crosses my mind often.
The fashion industry is a very fast-paced, money driven place - but it is also a place where things get swept under the rug for the sake of "art".
Not only black models, but black celebrities will do something or wear something and not receive the same recognition as a white one. Lemme give you an example that actually blows my mind. Cornrows were something that was a "trend" last year and was described as a "new and up and coming style". Kendall Jenner sparked controversy when she sported them and Marie-Claire praised her saying "Kendall Jenner takes bold braids to an epic level."
There is nothing new or epic about these braids - they have been around in the black community forever, which is funny because Jenner is getting credit for her new style.
But anyway, that was my rant for today...
