WHERE DO I GO?
Honey, lemme start off by saying do NOT go to Buffalo Exchange in Allston. The point of thrifting is to buy used (cute) items for cheap. This "thrift" store is also one where you can sell your clothes.
Speaking of which, I kind of have a story regarding this. So, I go in there with a ton of old clothes that I don't want and plan on selling to this place. I thought it was a good idea- and I would be getting money out of it I get5 there, go to the register, and the lady is so picky with what I have she keeps claiming that the shirts I attempted to sell her were things they "already had enough" of in the store. So long story short, she barely made an effort to buy one of my shirts for about $2.25 in store credit. the best part is that this is not the worst part of the store. At Buffalo Exchange, they sell used clothing for about the same price as you would buy it if it were brand new. In my opinion it is not worth going there, unless of course you enjoy wasting your time and money!
GOODWILL: Also known as the Holy Grail, is such a hidden jewel. So many people are quick to bash it. However, I have found PLENTY of Adidas, Nike, Eddie Bauer and even a gorgeous Ralph Lauren sweater there once for $3-$7 each (and in great shape too), so don't be quick to judge! Also to let y'all know, there several locations so be sure to try it out!
URBAN RENEWAL: This gem is even cheaper and also has a larger selection than Goodwill, which is pretty awesome. It is located in Allston.
WHAT DO I DO?
- Don't be afraid to explore the store - consignment stores are usually HUGE so look around
- Look everywhere! thrift stores are divided into different parts depending on the type of garment you are looking for (e.g pants, shirts, men/women) - you never know where you might find a really great piece
- Bring a friend - thrifting is always fun when you bring someone to help you shop
- Inspect each item before you buy it - remember, these items are going to be used so make sure you are getting your money's worth
HAPPY THRIFTING!!!!
