MET GALA - HIT OR MISS?

The Met Gala - an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume exhibition is an extravagant, over the top showcase of many different forms of art; especially the art that we wear. The 2015 Gala was held just last Monday - sorry I'm late with this! But anyway, I see this as a prom for celebrities & designers. Basically, a "who can upstage who extravaganza" with lavish attire. Every year there is a new theme. The 2015 theme was China: Through the Looking Glass.
This is somewhere where designers can completely show out and allow their art to be seen in a different light: opposed to being seen as "just clothes". There were definitely some eye catchers at the gala - both good and very very bad. I don't know, I feel like there really isn't an excuse for not looking good at this event. You are expected to bring your A-game and wear the most prodigal piece.

Take Vanessa Hudgens for example. She really dissapointed me to be quite honest. She looked as if she just bought her dress at the sale rack at Forever 21 or H&M; which is funny because H&M was the very designer behind her piece........Along with her bedazzled "gown", she sported a black fishnet veil (which reminded me of Beyonce's look last year). The shoes were a no and her make-up was the only thing that was gorg.

Rihanna by far, killed the gala - hands down. She sported an enormous yellow coat hand made by chinese designer Guo Pei. This dress was found online and took 2 years to make, according to Rihanna. She never fails to surprise me.

I actually find this picture pretty iconic - in a way... they are all new to the fashion world but some how still slayed.

By far, Solange was wearing a favorite of mine. She sported a Giles dress along with Cartier jewelry. It was originally worn with the top of the dress ruffled, but Solange chose to wear it fully up in a circle - which once again proves how she makes her clothes, her own.

Perfection. My girl Kim never fails to put a smile on my face - BUT her wardrobe is becoming a little too predictable lately. I do love this dress a lot, and it seemed like the sheer dress look was a running theme of the ladies that night...cough cough Bey & JLo.

Chinese Actress Fan Bingbing served everyone there, the "Through the Looking Glass" theme - and then some. This Christopher Bu gown and cape is extremely elegant and truly a work of art.

You can never go wrong with Dolce & Gabbana!!! Last but certainly not least: Michael B. Jordan, a man who not only is devilishly handsome, but also knows how to show up to a gala correctly. He wasn't boring with his suit and proved that there are all different types of suits for men to wear. He took a typical look and threw a twist on it - I love it!
